I'm into P3 as we exit the big right hander, but I start to understeer wide. This nearly sends me into the pit lane, and I smack into the barrier to come to a dead stop. I crawl back onto the track to finish the Lap 1 in P6, down 7.295" to the Esprit.
I cut through the lump for Lap 2, and move into P4 past the Type 72 while entering the final turn of Lap 2. I'm down 5.584" to begin Lap 3, and I finally catch up to the Type R and move past it with some dirty driving at the first turn of Lap 4. I cut through the chicane again to move into P2, and now I'm right on the tail of the Esprit.
Leaning on it through the final turn, I finally move into P1 midway through. I bust a lawnmower through the chicane again, and cross the line with a healthy lead... thanks to dirty driving!
I ended the race with 8.5 miles on the odometer.
