Please refer to these track maps when looking up Turn numbers/names ** Special thanks to AMG @ GTPlanet.net for the hard work put in to generate them!!! **
This was a very close race, despite my wallriding Turn A and crash-turning Turns B and G (inside the first tunnel, and just after the 2nd tunnel)...
One can usually manage to move up a position or two at the hairpin on Lap 1, but my start was so bad I can only manage to catch up to the pack. I move into P3 after crash-turning Turn G of Lap 1, and pass the VW after exiting Turn L.
Things are relatively calm for the next few laps, although the lead never stretches beyond a second. But on Lap 4, the CIEN finally moves into P2 and the race is on!
It bumps me from behind as we head into Turn J, and I do my best to keep tight to the inside for the remaining few turns to prevent it from passing easily. The gap is 0.087" as we begin Lap 5, and it briefly takes P1 in the tunnel after I forget to wallride Turn A. I take away the inside of the hairpin to regain the lead, and manage to hold it off as we cross T1, just 0.093" ahead. It tries to squeeze by on my left as we approach T2, but I scrub it into the Armco to "stretch" the lead to 0.104".
I'm up just over half a second at T2 of the Final Lap, but after sending my right side into the dirt on the outside of Turn K, it's on my tail as we head down the final straight. I do my best to stay in front of it, but just as we approach the line, it gets by and starts to make its move. Fortunately, there's no more track left, and I manage a scant victory of 0.061" with 0 bars of Nitrous left!!! Less than 3.5 seconds separate P1 to P5...
I ended the race with 59.8 miles on the odometer.
