I qualified P1 with a 4'22.545, up more than 8 seconds to the Lotus, cutting the chicanes and spraying the whole way. For the race, I lowered the Nitro from 35 to 10.
As the Speed Six comes up behind me, I scoot over to block. Just as this happens, the Esprit zooms past the both of us, just before braking for the Dunlop chicane. I bust a "Dune Buggy", and straight-line it through to take the lead.
I'm more than 3 seconds ahead at T1, but between T2 and T3, the Esprit comes up FAST and I manage to block it to stay ahead. A little bit past T3, the Speed Six joins the fray, and I manage to keep the lead out of Mulsanne. At just under 3 minutes, you can see the Esprit and Speed Six battle it out as we head for Indy, and the Esprit PITs the TVR into the left side wall.
Out of Arnage, the lead pack is 4-deep, now including the Tamora. The Esprit squeezes by on my right, then the Tamora, and I'm in 3rd place by 1.006" as we cross T6. I cut through the Ford chicanes and pass for the lead.
After cutting through the Dunlop chicane again, I'm -10.410" to the Esprit at T1, with 6 bars of Nitrous left. The Lotus chops into that for the next few checkpoints, despite my spraying, and actually closes the gap completely between Arnage and Porsche. The lead is just over 2 seconds at T5, and thanks to some sloppy driving and a missed block, I'm down almost 2 seconds at T6.
I finally cut the Ford chicanes, being careful to take a line that won't cause a collision with the Esprit. Thank goodness for blind Stewards!!!
I ended the practice session with 202 miles, and ended the race with 220 miles on the odometer.
