I qualified P1 with a 2'10.908, up more than 3 seconds to the Lotus, with no spray.
Check out the launch by the Esprit!! The thing rockets past me from the get-go, and I fail to block the SL 65 as it follows the Lotus into 2nd. The Cerbera makes its move as well, and we're side-by-side as we head into the first turn.
I'm down just under a second to the Lotus at T1, and coming out of the first tunnel, I bang into it to send it wide. I slip through on the inside just before entering the 2nd tunnel, and I gradually build my lead up to 4 seconds over the next few laps.
But by the final lap, my rear tires are going yellow, and the Lotus starts to reel me in. Coming out of the last turn on the final lap, the Esprit is in my rear-view, and I'm tempted to hit the spray. I decide not to, and just concentrate on staying in front of it. We cross the line, with gap closing to 0.359".
I ended the practice session with 169 miles, and ended the race with 185 miles on the odometer.
