Ahhh.. Another lovely test on The Ring using a German car... This test runs from the exit of Aremburg through the Adenaur-Forst sections (T2 to T3). It starts as a high-speed section, and gradually gets slower as the turns become tighter.
The downhill portion (Fuchsrohre) should be taken as straight as possible. I stay off of the curbs here, as they're kind of high, and easily unsettle the car at high speeds. Just before I reach the sun-lit part of the track, I get on the brakes and begin to turn in to the left kink. I slow down from 159 to 120, then ease back into the gas as I roll over the left side curb. This turn can be taken in the low-mid 120s.
There are some crosswalk-type lines that go across the track, and I use them as my braking point for the coming right hander. I take speeds down from 120 all the way to 75, then get back on the gas in 3rd gear as I near the exit.
I swing the steering to the left after crossing the purple paint graffiti, then I start braking for the left turn about 20 m before the yellow graffiti. I take the speed down from 86 to 47, then get back on the gas in 2nd gear for the final right.
I swing the steering back to the right just as I pass the big white graffiti, and shift early into 3rd. This and many other German cars dig well from the lower rpms, and the timing of the shift helps me keep the car settled through the turn. I try to maintain a smooth exit, and head for the finish.
I cross the line at 103 mph in 4th gear.
