Please keep in mind that these are not necessarily my best times (CLICK HERE for my best times/replays).

This test runs through the Esses and the Degner sections of Suzuka. Having already done part of this section in earlier tests, not much explaining is needed.

In general, I prepare to lift as I approach the inside curb of each turn in the Esses. This helps settle the car, and also helps ensure that I won't end up in the dirt. Whether I end up lifting or not, preparing to do so keeps me mindful of my car's disposition, and how it will affect the turn.

Coming out of the Esses, Dunlop should be taken as smoothly as possible. Steering too much will slow the car down, so I try to take a steady line from the inside curb, to the outside, back to the inside towards the left, to prepare for the first kink of Degner.

I begin braking for the right kink just past the 50 m marker (along the left). I brake from 102 to 76, then ease back to full throttle as I pass the inside curb. I think this turn can be taken a little faster, but it runs the risk of going off for a DQ, or slowing down by getting the left side into the dirt. I manage a safe exit, and stay to the left to prepare for the final turn.

Shortly after passing the end of the left-side curb, I begin turn-in and braking from 83 to 53. I cut the inside corner and get back on the gas as I roll off of it. I try to keep a smooth line to the outside that keeps me out of the junk on the left. Going too far beyond the left side curb will slow the car down tremendously.

I head for the line from there, crossing at 0'51.730, going 71 mph in 3rd gear.
